Timing can make or break your cycling experience in Myrtle Beach. With hot summers, heavy tourist traffic, and beautiful coastal scenery, choosing the right time of day is key to a great ride.
Early Morning (5:30-8:00 AM)
This is the best time for serious cycling. The air is cooler, traffic is light, and the sunrise over the Atlantic is spectacular. You'll have the paths mostly to yourself.
Late Afternoon (5:00-7:00 PM)
As the sun lowers and temperatures drop, late afternoon offers a second window for comfortable riding. The golden hour light makes for stunning coastal photos.
Evening (7:00-9:00 PM)
Evening rides along the boardwalk are a Myrtle Beach tradition. The temperature is comfortable, the crowds are out, and the atmosphere is festive.
Avoid Midday
Between 11 AM and 4 PM, the heat and humidity are at their peak, and tourist traffic is heaviest. This is the worst time for cycling in Myrtle Beach.
